The World’s Top 10 Airlines
Source: Pixabay At some point in your life, you will be going somewhere which will require you to fly. Sure, there are a lot of people that are scared of flying, but if you take a look at the top airlines in the world, and the reasons behind their rankings, you might change your way of thinking, and take a flight with at least one of them. Let’s see who made the list and why.
Besides the fact that Singapore Airlines was voted as the world’s best airline in 2018, it has also won the top spot in numerous other categories, including Best Airline in Asia. If you want to travel with the best, and you’re flying anywhere to or from Asia, chances are you’ll want to make use of Singapore Airlines. So what makes this airline so unique – food, comfort, connections or service? We think it’s the overall experience – to start with, the food served on the plane is specially planned and made for Singapore Airlines. Because the senses of a passenger are altered by altitude (keeping in mind that a plane can reach up to 40,000ft), the menu planning is very different from that of a restaurant. The airline has also received help from 3 well-known consultants to assist in the selection of wine served on board. Singapore Airlines has also partnered up with Virgin Australia to offer connections to more than 40 destinations across Australia, with the option to check your luggage in all the way from the UK. But it’s the outstanding service which is the main reason that you should fly with Singapore Airlines – while the industry standard for training new staff is eight weeks, Singapore Airlines goes the extra mile by training all new recruits for four months, ensuring that passengers get the best of the best when choosing to fly with Singapore Airlines.
The name Qatar will always come up somewhere when searching for the best airlines in the world. Established in 1993, this airline has literally taken the sky by storm, and links to over 150 destinations across Africa, Asia, North America, Middle East, South America and Oceania. Besides fine dining, Qatar Airlines also offers up to 4 000 in-flight entertainment options, enough to take you around the world 20 times. The airline also holds the record for the longest non-stop commercial flight from Doha to New Zealand.
ANA (All Nippon Airways)
It’s always good to do research, because from time to time, you’ll come across a name you’ve never heard before. Such is the case with ANA (or All Nippon Airways), for me anyways – the largest airline in Japan. So why did ANA make it to the top 10 list in 2018? By simply reading customer reviews, it’s easy to see why: attentive flight attendants, unobtrusive service, a menu with Japanese and Western food options, enough leg room, plenty of in-flight entertainment and guess what – they even serve lemonade! How refreshing.
When flying Emirates Airways, you’ll literally feel like you’re in heaven – in a good way, of course. Emirates is based in Dubai and operates more than 3 600 flights per week, to more than 150 cities in 80 countries across 6 continents. If you want modern and convenient flying, then Emirates is the airline for you. From the selection of on-board entertainment, the delicious food, clean toilets and exceptional service, my prediction is that Emirates will always make it into the top 10 when it comes to the best airlines in the world.
Besides the fact that the service is really good on EVA Air (also known as Evergreen Airways), the official airline of Taiwan, there is something special that makes EVA Air stand out from all the other airlines: the Hello Kitty theme. All the planes have a Hello Kitty design on the outside, and if that’s not enough, the theme is carried through to the inside of the plane as well – from the safety cards, the headphone bags, plastic cutlery and even the toilet paper. If you get air-sick, would you be willing to throw up in a Hello Kitty vomit bag? Chances are that you probably won’t, which means this could be a psychological way to avoid people from doing that – a bit cruel, but still cute.
