The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) started with the surprisingly good Iron Man in 2008. Along with restarting Robert Downey’s career, the movie was the positive litmus test the studios needed to greenlight what has become one of the largest most intricate movie franchises in history. When the cash cow keeps giving, why stop? Especially when it seems to be endowed with super abilities and an amazing origin story. The fantastic thing about the Marvel franchise is that it is actual, great story-telling that has proven to be popular already through their numerous series of comics. We’ve seen quite a few already, some adaptations a hit, some misses, but one thing is always for sure: we’ll keep buying those movie tickets, merchandise and DVDs by the barrel.
So, what’s coming up? What can we look forward to from Marvel’s artillery of superhero stories:

The new Marvel film packs a tiny punch
If you haven’t heard about the new Ant-Man film (a character set to join Marvel’s Avengers) then you must be living under a rock! The film stars Paul Rudd as the dashing, failed criminal Scott Lang who, with the help of a super-suit created by the scientist Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), is transformed into a hero capable of shrinking to the size of an ant with superhuman strength while fighting off the nefarious Darren Cross (Corey Stoll). The film has already scored a pretty great 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with special mention being given to Paul Rudd’s “charming performance.” The general consensus amongst critics is: don’t expect Avengers-type carnage; Ant-Man proves to be a lot more scaled-back but manages to provide some moments of great action-packed entertainment.
