After more than two decades since X-Files aired it’s first episode and more than a decade since the last episode of Season 9, the iconic television show is receiving renewed interest after a special 6 episode season 10 was release early this year. With season 10 receiving so much attention, Fox, in an effort to get ever last egg from their golden goose, is set to release two new X-Files novels.
The novel is said to be a prequel to the original series and will follow a young Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Publisher, Erin Stein described the motivation behind the novels asking the questions, “Why did Mulder become a believer? Why did Scully become a skeptic?”. It’s safe to say that with the “talk on the internet”, it is likely that sales of both novels will exceed all expectations.
As a bonus to making it this far, take a look at our top 3 X-Files facts below.
Top 3 X-Files Facts
1. Scully’s Pregnancy – much of the show’s mythology and conflict arose from Scully’s abduction and pregnancy in season 2. The idea for the pregnancy? Gillian Anderson (who played Scully) became pregnant in real life and the show’s writing team decided to go with it instead of halting production.
2. Is that Stan Lee – Even before the famous comic book creator started appearing in movie recreations of his icoic comic books, X-Files director Chris Carter was appearing cheekily in at least 3 episodes.
3. Scully’ Soap Box – The difference in height between Duchovny (who played fox) and Anderson was an amazing 10 inches. In an effort to bridge that gap, many scenes of the series were shot with Anderson standing on a custom built apple box.
