Summer’s here and along with it comes the wave of big-budget blockbusters. Here’s our pick of the best so far, and what we think will be the best to come:
1. Jurassic World
Jurassic World quickly became the fastest film to get to the $1 billion mark in box office takings after only two weeks since its release. Of course, once you’ve seen it you’ll realise why: the soft reboot of the 1993 original, Jurassic Park, roars, scrapes and massacres its way into being one of the most entertaining films of the year. Also, dinosaurs.

2. Mad Max: Fury Road
In a shocking turn for the best, this re-imagining of the Mad Max series of films has secured itself as what critics are calling the best action film of the past decade. Be transported across the sandy, barren plains of a post-apocalyptic world, where the headstrong and stoic Imperator Furiosa (played to perfection by Charlize Theron) has embarked upon a mission that has makeshift marauders from all walks of life chasing her down.
3. Avengers: Age of Ultron
All of your favourite Marvel comic book characters are back to face their biggest foe yet: Tony Stark’s accidental and incredibly menacing product of fusing alien and human technology. Watch as the superheroes battle it out against Ultron, with some fresh faces and interesting twists along the way.
4. Tomorrowland
This bold and vivid film from Disney brings to life the world of Tomorrowland, a beautiful vision of a future utopia which a girl discovers she can magically teleport to by touching a mysterious pin.
But wait, there’s more! Here’s what we’re most excited to see that’s still coming up!
5. Ant-man – 17 July
Why are we excited about Ant-man? Eventually he will become a part of the Avengers so we’re interested to see how his origin story will pan out. This Marvel character comes into the possession of a powerful suit, designed to shrink the wearer to ant-size and imbue superhuman strength. Whether it will be as good as the retro-fabulous Guardians of the Galaxy is anyone’s guess.
6. Terminator: Genisys – 1 July
Another in a series of soft reboots, this reboot of the Terminator series of films features the big, blue-eyed star of Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke, as a hardened Sarah Connor. In order to save the future, the humans who are rebelling against the power and authority of Skynet’s robotic grip of order send one of their own to the past to find Sarah Connor and save the world.
You can relive the carnage on the Terminator™ online slot.
7. Minions – 10 July
These loveable little creatures are back in their own feature film, set several decades before they meet the infamous Gru from the original film, Despicable Me. They are on the hunt for a villainous master to take them in, but things go awry with their newfound master, Scarlet Overkill.
8. Hitman: Agent 47 – Aug 21
Based on the famous video game, an assassin, genetically modified to be extraordinarily effective, takes on a massive corporation which is planning to use the secret of his origins to create an army of super-powered hitmen.

9. Fantastic Four – Aug 7
Shocker! It’s another reboot, and this time it’s another Marvel franchise film based on the Fantastic Four comic books. Watch Captain Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing and the Human Torch turn into the heroes they were destined to be.
10. Pixels – July 24
Adam Sandler is back with his latest adventure and this one looks like a doozy. Aliens misinterpret a message of friendliness (sent by Earth into the void of space) as a threat and their brand of extermination is personal: they choose classic arcade games, bring them terrifyingly to life and set them loose on the human population. It’s now up to the gamers to save the day.
What are you most excited to see?
